The Gilded Heiress They Called a Maid

At a society ball, Edith Vandermeer in a maid's uniform is publicly humiliated by her fiancé Harold Prescott; hours later, her father dies and leaves her a secret rail-stock ledger that can ruin the Prescotts.

At her father's funeral and then the rail boardroom, Edith is rejected until self-made rival Theo Shaw reveals he holds the stake that gives her control.

At Harold and Cecily's engagement party, Edith publicly reads a page showing Prescott's debt; Cecily threatens to expose Edith's maid secret.
